IBIS Prof. Thome Helps Companies Tap the Potential of SAP Solution Manager - IBIS Prof. Thome and...

IBIS Prof. Thome Helps Companies Tap the Potential of SAP Solution Manager

Würzburg, January 31, 2011 - IBIS Prof. Thome and SAP AG have signed a cooperation agreement in which SAP gains supplementary content from IBIS Prof. Thome for optimizing business processes via SAP® Solution Manager. Being made available for customers using SAP® Enterprise Support and Product Support for Large Enterprises (PSLE), the new content can further boost the value of SAP Solution Manager for customer's operative tasks by improving communication between business units and the IT department, facilitating the implementation of key process innovations.
As a central application management solution, SAP Solution Manager facilitates the implementation, operation, monitoring and support of SAP® systems. SAP Solution Manager is comprised of several work centers, uniting functions and covering the entire solution life cycle. With the new cooperation agreement between IBIS and SAP, the Solution Documentation Assistant work center gains additional content for new technical enhancements and to enable further anayses. The aim is to offer SAP Enterprise Support and PSLE customers transparency into process usage. In addition, the analyses will reveal potential improvements in processes that can be tapped by activating new business functions in the scope of enhancement packages.
The Solution Documentation Assistant enables connected systems to be analyzed holistically. With IBIS Prof. Thome's content, the analyses performable until now will be enhanced with a pre-defined set of rules. In this way, SAP users will be able to conduct more comprehensive usage analyses requiring only a few manual steps, without having to first define the process structure. At the same time, SAP transactions, including master and transaction data, customized settings and the navigation of functions belonging to the business processes are also analyzed.
Customers will benefit from in-depth usage analyses that will let them pinpoint which business processes they defined originally, which ones they currently employ and to what extent the two deviate. Furthermore, the analyses will allow users to compare their current processes against a business-and software-based reference model, enabling long-term optimization.
New content for Solution Documentation Assistant is planned to be delivered with the new version of the SAP Solution Manager (version 7.1.). SAP Enterprise Support and PSLE customers will be the first to access content for SAP® ERP, SAP® Customer Relationship Management (SAP® CRM), and industry-specific solution portfolios SAP® for Utilities and SAP® for Public Sector.
Gerhard Oswald, chief operating officer (COO) and a member of the SAP Executive Board, sees significant added value for customers. "Our cooperation with IBIS Prof. Thome further underscores the continuous development of SAP Solution Manager. It enables our SAP Enterprise Support and PSLE customers to obtain even greater value from their SAP solutions," says Oswald. "The SAP Solution Manager 7.1 will allow customers to determine current usage of their systems, conduct rapid analyses of unharnessed potential and thus more easily take advantage of SAP innovations."
In the future, IBIS Prof. Thome will collaborate with SAP to develop more industryspecific content for process analyses, for example, for retail and banking. Furthermore, customers will be offered additional services for rapid implementation and customer-specific management of SAP systems.
"The new, enhanced Solution Documentation Assistant and the customer-specific IBIS RBE Plus analyses enable SAP customers to take what you could call an 'x-ray' of their systems and their business processes. They receive a clear, objective diagnosis that enables them to determine how to improve their business processes to increase effectiveness and efficiency of their SAP systems," says Prof. Rainer Thome, Head of the Faculty for Business Administration and Information Technology at Julius Maximilian University, Würzburg, and executive of the Supervisory Board at IBIS Prof. Thome.

Go-live for hsp's CRM applications just three short weeks away

hsp, a consultancy for holistic enterprise development, has opted for a new solution for Customer...

'Management consultants embrace customer relationship with SAP Business ByDesign

Würzburg, November 23, 2010 - hsp, a consultancy for holistic enterprise development, has opted for a new solution for Customer Relationship Management (CRM). SAP Business ByDesign will help support their Campaign Management and Lead-to-Opportunity processes. IBIS Prof. Thome has been tasked with implementing the consultancy's CRM starter package.
Up to now, hsp has maintained its customer data in Microsoft Access, but the system was used merely to manage addresses. They had no solution for CRM. The consultancy was looking to improve its service to regular customers and find a systematic solution for launching sales campaigns - so they opted for SAP Business ByDesign's CRM application.
The Campaign Management process will enable hsp's marketing department to create, launch and monitor future campaigns, enter and analyze responses. The Lead-to-Opportunity process makes it easy to create leads from campaign responses. Marketing qualifies them and forwards promising ones to Sales, where employees create opportunities, plan activities and follow up on them - till ideally, sales orders result.
IT consultants at IBIS Prof. Thome will be implementing the CRM starter package from SAP Business ByDesign. The entire project is expected take only three weeks, beginning with a kick-off workshop to check business scenarios, define customer-specific content and check and improve the IT infrastructure. Next, IBIS consultants will pre-configure the solution, import data and train the end-users. Finally, they will perform in-depth tests, and SAP Business ByDesign will be available for CRM.
"We're an innovative consultancy for holistic enterprise development, change management expertise and process management. Our growth has made it necessary for us to evolve our own processes systematically," says Holger Schaar, founder and board executive of hsp. "The CRM starter package will help us implement SAP Business ByDesign quickly and reliably. Rather than having to expand our own IT infrastructure, it'll let us focus completely on our customers and our business."

About hsp

hsp, headquartered in Leinfelden-Echterdingen, implements change processes and ensures tangible success. A unique combination of top-down and bottom-up approaches offers businesses training and support to improve productivity, profitability, employee satisfaction and greater customer focus. The firm is a pioneer in holistic change management and helps companies create innovative corporate cultures. Their references include every type of business from SMBs to international corporations. hsp was founded over 25 years ago. Project tasks are performed by a pool of approximately thirty experts and instructors, all with at least 15 year's experience in consulting and management.

... are performed manually. State-of-the-art ERP systems offer a number of options for different payment transactions, like check or cash payments and money transfers. Plus, payment runs can be implemented to enter these transactions automatically or manually. Automatic entry limits the user's choice of transaction types. Open items are settled on the basis of data such as payment method, due date and amount. Manual payment affords considerable advantages - flexible times and processes - since methods and terms of payment can be adapted to modified operational requirements. But the advantages are a source of increased maintenance and greater risk for misuse. This should not be discounted. If a large number of payments are performed manually, compliance should be checked in these processes.
Think it's time you took a closer look at your system?

Sometimes it's smart to have custom developments, like customer transactions -- say, when your SAP release doesn't offer a standard version for functions you need. But custom developments become a problem when they cease to contribute positively to business processes. They require the same maintenance as your vital custom developments: The ABAP code needs to be checked and adjusted manually for every release upgrade or consolidation project. This is why it's so important to examine custom developments regularly and remove superfluous ones. Think it's time you took a closer look at your system?
