Our Interview with Christian Kübrich

Executive partner of Kübrich Ingenieure

July 2011 first, Kübrich Ingenieure went live with SAP Business ByDesign (SAP ByD). SAP Partner, IBIS Prof. Thome in Würzburg, spent the three months leading up to the Go Live, introducing them to the system. Dr. Christian Bätz, director of Business ByDesign at IBIS, spoke with Christian Kübrich, executive partner and founder of Kübrich Ingenieure, about the company?s new system:

IBIS: Mr. Kübrich, how do you feel about your company?s migration to SAP Business ByDesign?

CK: We are innovative in Automotive Test Engineering ? not DESPITE, but BECAUSE OF SAP Business ByDesign.

IBIS: Do you mean to say you expected the opposite effect?

CK: I had no doubts about our decision to switch to SAP ByD. But migration at the beginning of July was exciting ? considering that we deployed the majority of SAP ByD business areas in a number of organizations in various value-added chains.

IBIS: Was SAP Business ByDesign able to model all of these?

CK: In terms of standard software, SAP Business ByDesign covers a remarkably extensive scope. But there are always some requirements the software doesn?t meet or that aren?t offered just as you?d like them. But overall, the potential outweighs the drawbacks. What?s more, the software is particularly fast in the area of analytics, and can be customized. For instance, IBIS developed a special cross-project analysis for us - IBIS Multi-Project Report. Up to then we?d had to painstakingly compile all this data manually. Now our data is more up-to-date and we save time and money.

IBIS: How has SAP Business ByDesign impacted your innovative ability?

CK: The solution?s consistency has had a significant effect and has made our processes consistent too. Beginning with opportunities and ideas for new products, we now have consistent, interconnected data on machines we?ve installed ? from development to creation to customer service.

IBIS: Has the solution brought unanticipated benefits?

CK: I knew a cloud-based solution would make mobile usage possible and provide up-to-the-minute information anytime, anywhere. But the flexibility it enabled ? like sending messages and receiving approval while on the go ? and the positive psychological effects that went along with it (a great feeling) was something I had to experience first hand.

IBIS: What were your impressions of the software implementation?

CK: I can only describe the methods used to implement SAP ByD as innovative. The software ? and I already mentioned we needed an extensive package ? was implemented in only three short months. All that despite the fact that we are currently experiencing a lot of fluctuation in demand, order volume and availability on procurement markets. Thanks to the effective implementation method, we were able to work with IBIS mainly on business-related issues and could reap the greatest potential for our processes.

IBIS: Thank you for talking with us, Mr. Kübrich.
