It is difficult to plan and carry out innovative yet feasible research and development projects successfully. Each researcher and each person in the field thinks differently and has unique talents to contribute, all of which need to be brought together into accord and modified on a regular basis. New theoretical models, approaches and visions need to be developed that provide needed improvements and solve the problems that interfere with the most effective, profitable use possible.

IBIS Prof. Thome’s primary aim is to develop and improve the methods, software tools and services necessary to continually enhance the integration of organization and information processing. Its second most important initiative is its project work, specifically methods and tool coaching, in which the developed methods and tools are implemented and applied toward problem solving.

IBIS Prof. Thome has set itself a business objective to create an effective synergy between information technology and classic business administration. It develops rule-based business cases designed to offer companies individualized solutions and to ensure these companies future market success. In doing so, IBIS applies both its theoretical knowledge and the practical experience gained from its projects with former clients.

IBIS Prof. Thome currently employs 30 assistants, half of whom have received their doctorate degree and own shares in the company. This guarantees their business partners highly qualified and continual collaboration. In addition, IBIS has access to 20 outsourced employees and partner companies for software development (such as Siemens AG and SAP), as well as support in research projects from assistants on the staff of the university Faculty for Business Administration and Information Tech-nology.

The roots of IBIS Prof. Thome lie in classic business management, which has a long history at the University of Wuerzburg, Germany. This traditional approach is com- bined with innovative business information technology, as taught here by Prof. Tho- me since 1985.

Since 1994, IBIS Prof. Thome has invested more than half a million Euros financing research assistants, hardware and software at the Faculty for Business Admin-istration and Information Technology at the University of Wuerzburg. This financial commitment is what makes modern research possible, improves the quality of students’ education and offers them the opportunity to distinguish themselves academically in subject areas in which university graduates are in great demand.

IBIS also sponsored the making of the brochures and contributed to covering other expenses necessary in helping create the new MBA program “Business Integration”.

Depending on the topic of research, additional academic assistants associated with Prof. Thome’s Faculty for Business Administration and Business Information Tech- nology can be called on for support in research and development projects. This is made possible by a special framework agreement.
